A self taught artist specializing in silk
painting, henna art, and sculptural jewelry, Jaidra is based in Greenville, South
Carolina. Jaidra first
started working with silk in 2006 when she dyed dance veils for herself
and her students. She immediately fell in love with silk painting and
started experimenting with a variety of dyeing techniques, fabrics, and
color combinations. As a dancer and ecologist, Jaidra uses both silk
painting and jewelry design to express her love of movement and nature.
Jaidra works primarily in serti technique and
brush painting using jacquard green label silk dyes. Her pieces are
individually painted and steam set for vibrancy and permanency in color. When she isn't working on her art, Jaidra enjoys teaching and
performing Folkloric Fusion Bellydance and fire dance, writing, and
spending time with friends and family.
